The first day of my Mediterranean cruise featured a stop at the port of Acona, Italy. It was an old city with a rich history, but whose prominence has waned over more recent times. Its antiquities are well preserved, including the Catholic Church, which sits high on a hill overlooking the city.
I also enjoyed a bus ride to the village of Sirolo, Italy. The trip carried us along narrow roadways winding through the Italian countryside lined with vineyards and freshly tilled fields.
